Maine Conserved Lands Registry

Terms of Use

In order to maintain the commitment to provide a safety net for holders of conserved lands and easements through the Conserved Lands Registry, MCHT will implement the following procedures:

  1. Send an annual letter to registry participants reminding them to update their conserved lands data in the registry. MCHT will include a self-addressed stamped postcard that participating organizations may return to indicate they have no changes or new information to submit.
  2. Conduct an annual review of data to note whether or not a participant has submitted new information. If they have not, and they did not inform MCHT that they have no new information, MCHT will call the participating entity to ensure that they are still active.
  3. After two years of no updates and no relevant contact, MCHT staff will contact the participating entity to check on their status and offer assistance if needed.
  4. If no action is taken in the 3 rd year, MCHT staff, including the Stewardship Director and Maine Land Trust Network Coordinator, will discuss an appropriate course of action. This may include extra efforts to contact and work with board/staff/ others involved in the participating organization in an effort to help them meet their stewardship responsibilities. In rare cases, where other attempts to contact and work with the participating entity are not effective, this effort may lead to efforts to transfer the conservation holdings to another appropriate holder.
